Howard joined Rotary in July of 2003 and enjoys being a part of the Rotary Club of Parry Sound. In the community, Howard is involved with his church and with the Parry Sound Golf and Tennis Clubs. Howard enjoys golf, tennis, fishing, walking, skiing, and is trying to learn a second language. Howard's family comprises his brothers and sisters and their families. Howard was born in Hagersville, and raised in Middleport near Brantford, Ontario. He grew up in a Tom Sawyer lifestyle along the Grand River. He enjoyed hockey, swimming, and fishing. His primary dream was to be a professional hockey player. His secondary dream was to become a radio play-by-play hockey game announcer. The lure of fast cars and riches overruled his dreams, so he began a career at Dofasco Steel at the age of 17. He worked in Accounting and later in Recreation for the last 25 years of his 35 years in the company. His title was Assistant Manager Employee Recreation at that time. While living in Parry Sound, Howard has owned a boat cruise business and a lawn maintenance business. He has traveled with many volunteer trips to Guatemala and to Cuba. His new dream is to work with Rotary in San Salvador and hopes to work with street kids there. . He would like to volunteer his services to Rotary Clubs in Central American. Howard has been pursuing his dream the past few winters in Central American, keeping in touch with members at home through the miracle of email. It's a pleasure to welcome Howard to our club.
