Local Profile – Jack Waring

Jack was born and raised in Toronto. He was employed as a Stationary Engineer for Carling O'Keefe Breweries where he was in charge of energy systems, the boiler room, the largest ammonia system in Ontario, water treatment, electrical distribution, CO2 collecting, etc., for 31 years. (Jack forgot to add 'tasting'.) In 1980, Jack started to build an energy efficient solar envelope home (house within a house). After retiring, he completed the interior This design has proved to be very cost-effective, comfortable, and quiet. Jack joined the Rotary Club of Parry Sound in 1990. He has worked on several committees with the club, and has held positions as Director, Vice-president, and finally President in 1998-99. Outside the club, Jack has been the Easter Seal Chairman for 10 years. He was active in the Probus Club for Trinity Place. Jack's hobbies include carpentry, gardening, fishing, and travel. Jack and Gloria have been married 51 years, and celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary on September 4, 2004! They have 3 children – a daughter, Lynn, and two sons, Glenn and Greg. They are also proud grandparents to 7 grandchildren – 3 granddaughters and 4 grandsons. Jack has traveled to Malta, the British Isles, Montserrat, South America around Cape Horn, and has done an Amazon River Cruise, etc. Jack would like to see the club complete the 100th Anniversary projects, and complete them well. We are so very pleased that Jack is a good friend and valuable member of the Rotary Club of Parry Sound!
