Local Profile – Ray Pavlove

Ray's early life was in Saskatchewan where he attended a one-room elementary school and a two-room high school. He graduated from the University of Saskatchewan, after which three years of his life were devoted to the RCAF. Ray also spent two years as a purchasing agent for 4 Seasons Chalet.

Ray entered teaching, where he spent 32 years, 9 of which were in administration of teaching. Ray has worked as a volunteer with the OTF in Thailand for two summers, and for Rotary in Papua, New Guinea. He has attended two Rotary International conventions -- Tokyo and New Orleans.

Ray is married to Kathy; they have two daughters (Cory and Debby) and three grandchildren (Claire, Charlie, and Amanda).

Ray joined Rotary in January 1970 in the classification, Education – Rural.

He gets involved in many Rotary and community projects, the most recent of which is the Bobby Orr Induction Ceremony at the end of January – something he wasn't even available to attend. Some thought he was off curling, but we have pictures to prove otherwise.

Ray's hobbies include woodworking (he makes wonderful carved train sets), golf, and curling.

Ray is a Past President of Rotary, has been on the executive for 9 years, was a Rotary Student Exchange Counsellor, and had perfect attendance for 22 or 23 years. His goals are to remain in good health and improve his golf game.

Ray is most certainly an asset to the Rotary Club of Parry Sound!
