Local Profile – Stephen Héder


Stephen's original classification was Child Welfare Manager. He gave a short update classification talk and shared time with Bill Kirkland in 2002. Presently, he works with groups of seniors in the community for 'The Friends' and supervises the staff, who work in Dunchurch, MacTier and Honey Harbor.

Stephen joined the PS Rotary Club in late 1994, and has been an active member ever since. Prior to that, he was a member of the Brockville club from 1988 to 1994. He was our Co-Directory of International Service in 2003-2004. Stephen has also been involved as Director, Vocational Services (1999 – 2000) and the Wheelchair project in November 2003.

He is involved in the Nature Club, United Church, and peace movement in our community.

He enjoys swimming, sailing, canoeing and kayaking, walking, cross-country skiing, and other sports.

Stephen is married to Susan and they have six children and three grandchildren. He has relatives in Hungary and in the U.S. He has traveled to Zimbabwe, Bolivia, Peru, Trinidad, Armenia, and Europe.

His goals with Rotary include working on the Armenia project and perhaps on the St. Lucia project. He was born in Budapest, Hungary. He came to Canada at age 19, did post graduate studies in Germany for three years on a scholarship.
